Sock Monkeys - September 13, 2014 |
|
What a great showing we had on Saturday! Knitters, crocheters, and members of a Brownie group came together to learn about a community service project involving 5th graders. The teacher, Barbara Lehman, was available to instruct those interested in making sock monkeys. Marian Leib, a Care to Knit volunteer, gave us insight as how we might help the Brownies by making sock monkey kits. There was a lot of positive energy in the room. We hope to keep this project going.
Knitters and crocheters across the country helped us pair handmade matching hats to 50 sock monkeys. These will become gifts for children going though cancer treatments, hoping to put a smile on their faces and letting them know there is someone out there who is thinking about them.
Anyone interested in making sock monkeys, please email Betty Jayne Volpe - bjvolpe@optonline.net
